ABOUT OUR PHOTOWALKS
At the heart of this workshop is my Learning to See process. It’s designed to get you thinking differently about photography, pushing you beyond the usual “point and shoot” and into something much more meaningful. Over the weekend, we’ll break down photography in ways that are practical, fun, and directly applicable to your style:
-
Day One: We’ll kick off by retraining your eye, about learning how to see creatively. We'll spend the day actively working on taking photos to help you unlock this new way of seeing.
-
Day Two: Get ready for hands-on shooting sessions where we’ll put those new skills into action in the field.
-
Day Three: It’s all about refinement—through more shooting and personalized feedback, we’ll work together to solidify what you’ve learned.
This isn’t just another workshop where you take a bunch of photos and move on. This is about transforming how you see the world—and that’s what makes all the difference.
"Alex helped my photography immensely, both technically and in how I visualize and convey my work."
WHAT TO EXPECT
Instruction and Support
You’ll get expert advice on everything from composition to lighting, all in a way that feels approachable and immediately usable. Plus, I’ll be there with you every step of the way—giving hands-on feedback, tips, and advice in the moment.
Creative Community
You won’t just be learning from me—you’ll also be part of a small, passionate group of photographers. We’re all here to share, learn, and inspire each other. Chances are you will walk away with new photography friends.
Flexible, Open-Ended Agenda
Boston is full of surprises, and we’re going to leave room in our schedule to adapt to whatever this amazing city throws our way. We’ll mix in shooting sessions, critiques, and optional extras to make sure we capture the best of what Boston has to offer.Â
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
Seeing Beyond the Snapshot
We’ll focus on approaching photography with intention. I’ll teach you how to look beyond the obvious and turn everyday scenes into extraordinary visual narratives.
Mastering Light
Light is everything in photography, right? I’ll show you how to work with both natural and artificial light to create images with depth, texture, and mood.
Composition and Timing
Let’s dive deep into the art of composition. We’ll break down the tried-and-true techniques, then experiment with capturing those decisive moments that make your shots sing.
Finding Your Personal Vision
Photography is personal, and this workshop is all about helping you discover your unique style and voice. By the end of the weekend, you’ll feel confident in how you express your vision through your work.
Visual Storytelling
A great photo tells a story. I’ll help you create images that do just that, turning simple scenes into compelling visual narratives that go beyond documentation.
Embracing Experimentation
Photography is as much about the unexpected as it is about planning. We’ll push the boundaries, try new things, and—yes—make mistakes along the way. That’s where the real magic happens,
Editing and Curation
Photography doesn’t end when you press the shutter. I’ll show you how to edit and curate your images so that they work together to tell a cohesive, powerful story.
"I'd recommend this walk to any photographer, whether new or experienced."
